| OPEN HOUSES
Holding an open house is an effective way to spread the word that your
house is for sale, and to show potential buyers or their friends what a great
home you have.
- Clean your house
as a clean home equates a well maintained property that will get offers!
Clean everything and everywhere. Get rid of all clutter. Hide personal
items.
- Don't underestimate
the power of smell. Consider placing plug in room fresheners in each
room. Place fresh flowers close to the entrance door for a warm welcome.
- Potential buyers
don't want to hear the furnace turn or outdoor traffic. Consider playing
soft music in the background.
- You can leave
a decorative treat filled dish out for potential buyers, perhaps individually
wrapped candy.
- Pets should
not be present as they make many people uncomfortable.
- Open blinds
and curtains, turn on all lights to make your home look open and large
- Sparsely decorated
walls also give the illusion of a larger space.
- Replace personal
pictures with plants or fresh flowers to help buyers picture themselves
living there.
- Nothing makes a home look newer faster then a fresh coat of paint.
Neutral colors such as beige, white and off-white have a broad appeal
to buyers.
- Put excess clothing and furniture in storage to make your home look
larger
- Buyers will pay close attentiion to the condition of your roof.
Repatch or reshingle where necessary and fix leaky downspouts or gutters.
- Consider having the carpet cleaned. Pull up any that is outdated
or worn.
Good luck and we
hope you sell your home quickly!
